My testimony is one of the grace and mercy of God. I was born into a loving, Christian home. My parents took me with them to church every time the doors were open. As I approached sixth grade, my parents gave me the opportunity to attend Prairie Baptist School.
It all started at an antique tractor show where a young boy, a year older than me, befriended me. He told me all about this great school that had just started. I asked my folks if I could go too. Dad and mom investigated, prayed, and finally made the big decision that my sister and I would be allowed to attend.
We soon joined not only the PBS family but also the Prairie Baptist Church family as well. We were all excited to be a part of a vibrant, active church. Our former church had declined to the point of stagnation and eventually closed. At Prairie it was a buzz of activity and opportunity.
Though we had always attended a doctrinally sound Baptist church, my own salvation experience had yet to occur. During a fiery chapel message, I realized I had never truly received God’s gift of grace. Pastor Jim Harrison, the youth pastor, led me to the Lord in his office. I was scripturally baptized soon afterwards.
By God’s grace He continued to use PBC to work in my life. Though I went through a period of rebellious disobedience, God used PBC, its ministry, and Pastor to keep me in check and eventually lead me to true repentance.
After graduation, I attended Maranatha Baptist Bible College where I received my B.A. in Youth Ministries. When I encountered an untenable situation in my first ministry, it was again PBC and Pastor Tom Harrison who provided help and healing. I was brought on staff and enjoyed several years of working with Brother Harrison and the lovely folks there at Prairie.
I am now serving as Senior Pastor in Blooming Prairie, Minnesota. The folks here have become family, but Prairie will always hold a dear place in my heart. Its people and pastor have truly been ministers of God’s grace to me.
